How to Get Traffic to Your Website Free & Fast

If you want to get traffic quickly like within hours or days, there are a few ways that I have discovered that will definitely bring instant to near-instant traffic. This does not mean that there is little to no work involved though.

In most of these methods, you will need to do some background work first to set up your traffic generation system or spend some time on online platforms where your audience congregates. So, what are these traffic sources? Well, let’s get into it now, shall we?

  1. Pinterest

Drive Pinterest TrafficTraffic source number one is Pinterest. Pinterest is an image-based search engine which is considered a high-value traffic source because most of the traffic that you get from there is generally very target and they are also known to spend online.

As a matter of fact, Pinterest traffic spends an average of $50 on online purchases. A lot of bloggers have Pinterest as their main traffic source. To drive traffic does not involve posting random pins and hoping that the traffic will start coming in floods.

It needs to be done strategically and you achieve this by using a software called Tailwind tribes. The short explanation of what Tailwind tribes is a platform where bloggers interested in the same niche congregate (tribe) and help share each other’s pins.

The power in this is that you get to benefit from other people’s communities while they benefit from yours as well. When you share their pin, your followers see it and when they share yours, your content is exposed to their followers.

Your pins can lead to a blog post, lead capture page, video or any other online property that you want. This method generally takes a few hours to days for you to begin seeing traffic to your website.

  1. Guest Blogging

If there is a popular figure in your niche who commands a great following, you can reach out to them and ask to write a guest post for them. Most people for whom you write content will allow you to place a link back to your website.

A backlink not only has value in that it can bring direct traffic to your blog but it also acts as a vote for your content. When someone links to your content from another website in a similar niche to yours, search engine algorithms view it as a vote for your content and that other people think it’s valuable. Search engines will then rank this content higher up in the search rankings.

With the recent algorithm changes that Google has made in the recent past, it remains to be seen whether or not backlinks still hold a lot of weight but I believe that they still do, granted not as much as in previous years.

  2. Answering Questions on Forums

This method is a tried and trusted approach which has worked well from the early days of the internet. When you join most forums, you get to create a signature link which appears every time you post a comment in the forums.

If you manage to use enticing wording in your signature section, some people on the forum will click to your website. This method can be used to promote a blog post, lead capture page, affiliate offer or anything really.

Be careful not to come across as spammy. Just go on the forum boards with a mind of creating value and the traffic will pretty much take care of itself. I have done this many times over the years and have gotten traffic months and sometimes down the line. Try this method, it can work wonders for you.

      5. Reddit

Reddit is more or less like a forum but you don’t get the opportunity to post a link in your bio footer. Here you will need to post a link. That being said though Reddit users hate any form of spam and will call you out or kick you out at the most if you appear to be self- promoting.

Again, as in the forums, let your main aim be to provide value and people will be a bit more forgiving when you link to relevant content.

Of course, there are many other ways which you can use to promote for free in the short term but we’ll stick with these 4 for now.

How to Get Hands Free, Long Term Traffic

Now Let’s look at the more long-term approaches to driving traffic to your website. These methods take a bit more time but they will definitely be more effective in the long term as well.

  1. Search Engine Traffic

When it comes to search engines, Google is the standard. Everyone else is simply falling under Google’s shadow. They don’t even come anywhere close. When you do proper search engine analysis and create content for less competitive keywords, you will be able to rank your content high up in the search engine results.

The aim is to get on the first page of Google and preferably at number one. This is more of a long-term approach to traffic which takes months and, in some cases, years before your content ranks high enough. There are no guarantees that you will get a lot of or any traffic from search engines but there are ways of improving the chances of your content ranks on page one.

It’s al about researching the right keywords then creating relevant, quality content for those keywords. Your aim should be to create the best resource on the internet for that particular keyword.

  1. Mailing Lists

Mailing lists are a great way of driving free traffic to your website. It does take a lot of time and effort o build that list but once it’s there, you can drive hundreds or thousands of targeted visitors to your website.

  2. YouTube

YouTube Traffic For Affiliate MarketingA YouTube channel is another thing that takes a lot of time to build up as a traffic source but once you start getting a significant number of views to your videos, a portion of those visitors will go to your website.

It takes time and consistent effort to start seeing decent results but once the algorithm sees your consistency in releasing content, it will begin to show your content to more and more people and your views will increase leading to more traffic to your website.

Website Traffic Software – Is it Good for Your Website?

I want to talk a bit about traffic software commonly known as bots. Traffic bots give fake hits or visits to your website and make it look like actual human visitors have visited your website. I had a tough experience when I bought a number of “traffic” gigs on Fiverr which promised tens of thousands of visitors for only five dollars.

What I quickly discovered was that indeed, the hits did come but it was all bot traffic and not actual human visitors. This can hurt your site if your aim is to eventually get traffic from Google. If it sees that your website visitors are actually bots, it can penalise your content in the search rankings.

Diversify Your Traffic

As a closing note, if you are approaching your website as a long-term business, you want to diversify your traffic sources as much as possible. I have been around for long enough to see internet companies come and go including traffic sources.

You need to have at least 2 or 3 traffic sources that feed your site so that if a source closes down or Google does an algorithm update that penalises your content, you have a fall-back plan.

I would love to hear your thoughts an comments on this in the comments section below.
