How to Promote Amazon Products on Pinterest
Amazon Associates is a great way to earn affiliate commissions especially if you are starting out. This is mainly due to the fact that Amazon sells a wide array of mainly physical products and is a trusted brand worldwide.
When you piggyback on the reputation that the Amazon brand has, your job of selling is made easier. Ask anyone who has an eCommerce store, especially a new one and they will tell you that It’s usually not easy to build trust with customers.
You get this obstacle out of the way right out of the gate. Next, you don’t have to fulfil any orders. Amazon does it all for you. All you need to do is make the sale and get the commission.
If you have read enough articles on this blog, you will see just how much I rave about Pinterest as a traffic source especially if you want quick results. We will be using Tailwind in conjunction with Pinterest.
How to Use Tailwind to Drive Traffic to Your Offers
Tailwind is an auto-scheduler that you can use to schedule Pinterest and Instagram posts. What sets it apart from other schedulers is that it has a feature called Tribes. Think of tribes as communities of Pinterest users who help each other by showcasing your content to their networks.
This can lead to thousands, tens of thousands r even hundreds of thousands of visitors going to your affiliate offers which translate to money.
Create a Pinterest Business Account
Now, let’s look at how to do this practically. In order to drive traffic to your Amazon offers, you will need to have a business Pinterest account which allows you to post rich pins. Rich Pins can only be enabled on business and not personal accounts.
Rich pins are pins on which you can post links. These will be links to your Amazon offers. To activate rich pins, however, you will need to have a website. Pinterest will walk you through this process when you are converting your free account to a business one.
Once you have set up your account, the next step you need to take is to create a rich pin. If you have graphic design skills you can do this easily using a free tool called Canva. Canva has pre-made templates for different designs including Pinterest pins.
Create a pin that has information about the Amazon product you are promoting. Think about your pin as a mini sales letter designed to convince your reader to purchase the product you are promoting.
It’s outside the scope of this article to teach copywriting but there are a lot of resources online that you can use to learn this valuable skill. Once you have created your first pin, create ten other pins that are promoting the same product.
The reason that you do this is so that you have different pins on rotation all promoting the same product. People will quickly develop banner blindness seeing the same pin and will stop clicking on it after some time.
If, however, you have many pins all promoting the same offer, the chances of your prospect visiting your affiliate offer increase.
Create Private/ Hidden Group Board
Once you have finished, create a board for your pins that is public then create an identical one which you will set as private. When I put a dash before my private board names so I know which is which. So, my board names will look something like this:
Phillips Air Fryers (Public Group)
-Phillips Air Fryers (Private)
Once these are set up, the next step you need to take is to load all your pins into the private group.
Set Up Tailwind Account
Within the Tailwind console, there’s a tab where you can join tribes. To join a tribe, all you have to do is search using your keywords. In this case, you search for Air Fryers or Kitchen appliances. Join a few of them and then you will be ready for the next step.
Schedule Your Pins
The next step is to schedule your pins. Since your account is linked to Pinterest, you can access your boards. You pull the pins from the private boards and schedule them to the tribes.
Most tribe rules state that you need to have a 1 to 1 share ratio meaning that you at least have to share another tribe member’s pin for each pin you share. Make sure you read the rules to avoid being kicked out.
Carry out this process on a regular basis and you will get an ever-increasing flood of traffic to your offer.
How to Do Pinterest SEO
The next method you can use on Pinterest involves optimising your pins so that they are found through user searches. Pinterest is more of a search engine than it is a social media platform. It’s a visual search engine.
People actually go there to look for products and ideas. The average value of a Pinterest user was calculated to be about $50. This means that Pinterest has an active buyer community.
Here’s a simple way of getting some search engine traffic.
In our example, you want to search for air fryer or specifically Phillips Air Fryer. Type this into the search bar and you will see suggested searches at the top of the page. Note all these down. Next, go into the Pinterest Add Manager.
They have a keyword tool there that will show you which keywords are being searched and how many people are searching for them. Pick a few other keywords from here then use them in your pin description, that’s it.
Create many pins and post as many as you can to your boards following this method and the traffic will start showing up.
I hope you now understand how to promote Amazon products on Pinterest. The next step is up to you now.
