Pinterest is one of the most powerful search engines out there and in this article, we will be covering the Pinterest Clickbank method of making money online.
The Pinterest – Clickbank method of making money online is one where you get affiliate offers off Clickbank and promote them using Pinterest. This method, when done well, is not only free but an effective way of making money online without a real budget.
Though we are focusing mainly on Clickbank as an affiliate platform, there are also many other places where you can sign up as an affiliate without the need for a website. You can find the list of these affiliate companies in my article below:
This strategy can be executed with or without a website and I will be explaining both ways in this article.

Why Pinterest and Clickbank?
I always want to give you the full picture as far as making money online is concerned so I would like to explain why I believe that this method is generally a good combination.
To make money online, you need a few factors to align but the 2 most important elements are an offer and targeted traffic.
Clickbank is, in my opinion, the leading affiliate network for digital products. The digital nature of the product means that once created, there is little to no cost involved in the delivery of the product to the customer.
This allows product creators to offer 50%, 60% and as high as 80% commission. This sets you up to earn significant amounts of money without necessarily needing to sell a lot of products.
I understand that significant amounts of money are relative to each individual but what I mean is that you can make some good money on Clickbank.
Pinterest is one of the few places that you can still get targeted traffic at no cost. As I stated earlier in this article, the second most important element of making money online is targeted traffic.
Research has shown that a Pinterest user is worth $50 on average. This simply means that people on Pinterest are more likely to buy things if you target them right.
In comparison to Facebook and other places where you can market for free, Pinterest is performing quite well as a free traffic source besides making some significant changes to their algorithm over the years. This is to be expected as we have seen this with both Google and Facebook.
Why Pinterest Works Well Even After All the Algorithm Changes
To get a better comprehension of Pinterest you need to first have the understanding that it is actually a search engine. When a user searches on it, pins are presented to them. A pin is simply a graphic that usually links to an external site or web page.
To use Pinterest as a traffic source, you will need to configure your Pinterest account to show rich pins. Rich pins are pins which you post to Pinterest and they have a link to an external website. If you have an ordinary account, you will not be able to put a link on your pins.
I want to keep this post as detailed as possible and also short enough to not overwhelm you with information. I will, therefore, not be covering how to set up your Pinterest account properly. You can find this information easily through a Google or YouTube search.
There are 2 ways in which you will be able to get traffic from Pinterest. Your pins have to either rank well in the search or be repined by other Pinterest users, therefore, giving them more exposure.
As the heading for this section shows, Pinterest has made many changes to their algorithm over the years just like Google, Facebook, Twitter and other platforms have in order to better serve their customer base.
This has meant that they have had to weed out bad results by making it a bit harder to rank as opposed to years ago.
When this initially happened, people started using group boards in order to share their content and get traffic but those have suffered as well. It’s now much harder to drive traffic this way.
I know it sounds like it’s all doom and gloom up to this point, but bear with me. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
There is a way which still works today and looks set to still be working for years to come.
Tailwind is a software that allows you to automate the pin posting process. All you simply do is create pins and then load them into private boards that you would have created.
You then schedule these pins to post into your visible boards meaning that your followers get to see fresh content regularly on their timelines. This, however, is not the most powerful feature of Tailwind.
The pins you post are only limited to your followers and their followers if they choose to re-pin them. The most powerful feature of Tailwind is the Tribes function.
When you are inside tailwind, you can do a simple search and you will find groups of people (tribes) who are all interested in a particular topic. When you join a tribe, you have a responsibility to re-pin content that you like from that tribe and other tribe members can do the same.
This process means that you immediately have access to thousands of targeted users that are helping to spread your pins within Pinterest as you do the same for them. It becomes a win-win situation.
I hope you are seeing the power that is in this method.
What Can You Realistically Expect?
I have seen, and I’m sure you have too, many articles and videos promising to make you hundreds or thousands of dollars per day using this or similar methods. This has not been my experience and I believe it’s the case for many affiliate marketers out there.
When you use this method, you can realistically make $200 to maybe $2000 per month as you post more and more pins and they are shared.
Now that I have taken you through the overview of this approach, I will now show you how to use it practically in the following ways.
How To Promote Clickbank Products on Pinterest
Method 1 – Without a Website
At his point, let’s assume that you have your Pinterest and Clickbank accounts set up and you have chosen a product to promote. The next thing you need to do is start implementing the process.
These are the steps you need to take.
Step 1 – Model the Top Pins in your Niche
Do a search on Pinterest for the niche that your offer targets. For example, type “Dog Training” and look at the top results for that search. Study the top 10-20 pins and try to model them as much as possible.
Step 2 – Create 10 Pins
Next up you need to create at least 10 pins that talk about problems that your offer solves. If you can do graphics design then good for you. If you can’t, on the other hand, you can use a free online tool called Canva.
Step 3 – Create Private Boards in Your Canva
The next step is to create a few private boards within your Canva account. You will also need to create public boards that mirror the private ones.
As an example, you can create 3 boards as follows:
Board 1 – How to Train Puppies
Board 2 – How to Train Full Grown Dogs
Board 3 – Dog Training Resources
Once you’ve done this, you then need to populate your boards which takes us to step 4.
Step 4 – Load Your Boards
Now that you have at least three private boards and their replicas which are set as public boards, you then need to upload the pins that you created into the relevant private boards.
For each pin, make sure you put the URL to your affiliate offer. You will need a way of tracking how many people are actually clicking through to your offer so you can use a URL shortener such as www.bit.ly .
Step 5 – Sign up and log in to Tailwind
The next step you need to take is to sign up for Tailwind. You can Sign up for Tailwind [eafl id=”227″ name=”Tailwind” text=”here”].
Once you login to Tailwind, do a search for relevant Tribes and join them.
Step 6 – Schedule Your Pins
You now need to schedule your pins from the private boards into your public boards. Lastly, look through your tribes and share relevant pins to your public boards until you have at least 10 pins in each board.
That’s the 6-step process. Repeat this process every 3 to 4 days and you will begin to see an ever-growing number of people visiting your affiliate offer.
Though the method I just described above can work wonders, it does have its shortcomings as I am now going to explain.
Firstly, it has the challenge of not having the ability to pre-sell a prospect. In online marketing, it is very rare to have a situation where someone buys a product without some level of convincing especially in the current internet landscape.
Unless they are on Amazon (a trusted source) or Google with a clear intention to buy, it is very rare for someone to make a purchase at first exposure. They need some level of convincing. In marketing, we say that it takes at least 7 exposures to a message for someone to then make a buying decision.
The other weakness of this approach is that you are continuously looking for new visitors to sell to instead of developing a relationship with them that allows for repeat sales.
Though this is a good starting point, once you start making money, I suggest you upgrade to the next level which I am now going to describe.
Method 2 – With a 2-Page Website/ Blog
This method involves building a small niche website/ blog or simple 2-page website that allows you to pre-sell your prospect. I will break this down into 2 sections. The steps highlighted in method 1 are also relevant in this step.
The big difference is that with these 2 models, you have a system that will grow over time potentially earning you thousands to tens of thousands of dollars.
Let’s get into them, shall we?
Using a Simple Lead Capture System
In this method, you build a 2-page website which includes a lead capture page and thank you page linked to a marketing funnel.
Instead of driving your prospect straight to your product, offer them a free e-book, video or mini-email course which allows you to first offer them free value upfront so that they are more inclined to purchase when you offer them an affiliate product.
If you remember, I stated that it takes around 7 exposures for someone to make a buying decision, having this setup allows you to develop a relationship with them first as well as to offer them other related products down the line.
It also positions you better to offer high ticket products because a certain level of trust has been built. As your database of prospects grows, so does your potential to earn ever-growing amounts of money.
To drive traffic to your lead capture page, you use the same steps in method 1 but the only difference is that you are sending them to a free offer instead of straight to your affiliate offer.
Using a Blog/Niche or Mini-site
Lastly, you can set up a blog, niche site or a mini-site. They are more or less the same thing but the only difference being the size of the different categories.
In this method, you first pre-sell them then take them either to a lead capture system or an affiliate offer.
Instead of offering value through an e-book, email series or video, you create an article. The site can be anything from 3 pages to hundreds but the idea is to first offer value so you warm up the prospect enough to get them into a buying position.
I hope you found value in this post valuable and as always I would love to hear your comments below.
